About

The Infant Nutrition Science Coalition (INSC) brings together scientific experts from academia, government, and industry to advance research on human milk and infant nutrition. The INSC aims to improve our understanding of human milk’s composition and functional effects, and to explore how differences between human milk and infant formula may impact infant development. By fostering collaboration across sectors, the coalition supports a stronger scientific foundation to inform public health and research efforts.

Key Focus Areas

Comparative Composition

Examining comparative composition of human milk and formula and ensuring accurate data collection methods.

Mechanisms & Models

Understanding physiological effects of human milk and formula components and identifying valid preclinical models, including animal models and new alternative methods (NAMs).

Infant Health Markers

Developing comprehensive infant health markers beyond traditional growth measurements.

Role of ILSI U.S. & Canada

ILSI U.S. and Canada facilitates and manages the activities of the INSC. Acting as a neutral convener, it provides administrative coordination, organizes meetings and workshops, and supports collaborative projects that advance the Coalition’s scientific objectives.
